The OFT is conducting a consultation on a proposed revision to the charging structure for consumer credit licensing fees. The consultation document provides background to the licensing regime and the OFT's views on what it should consider when developing any revised charging system. The document also highlights some of the criteria that might be chosen to differentiate between different classes of licence applicant.
The consultation gives stakeholders the opportunity to provide views and comments about the proposed revision to the charging structure and the key criteria that could be used to differentiate between applicants for consumer credit licenses. The consultation also asks about exemptions from charges in certain circumstances.
We will collate responses and publish a formal summary of these on this website. The responses will be considered when developing potential revised charging structure(s), which are to be reported to Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills within 2010. Any revised charging structure that is considered suitable for implementation will be thoroughly tested before being formally introduced in April 2011.
