Draft OFT guidance for brokers, intermediaries and the consumer credit and hire businesses which employ or use their services
Start date: 1 June 2011
End date: 23 August 2011
This consultation concerns the OFT's proposal to publish guidance for credit brokers and credit intermediaries, setting out the standards of conduct the OFT would expect in terms of fitness to be licensed. The guidance is also relevant to consumer credit businesses (creditors) who use the services of credit brokers or intermediaries and so need to be aware of their responsibilities in relation to such persons.
The guidance draws together and updates in a single document the elements of a number of relevant documents such as the Second Charge Lending- OFT Guidance for lenders and brokers (OFT1105) and aspects of the Irresponsible Lending Guidance (OFT1107).
The guidance also updates businesses on new regulation implementing the Consumer Credit Directive.
We would welcome your views and comments on the consultation (contact details below).
