Newspaper and magazine distribution in the UK

The OFT has published its proposed decision on a request for a market investigation reference (MIR). The OFT is now entering into public consultation and is seeking comments from industry parties as well as other interested parties on the OFT's proposed decision not to make an MIR to the Competition Commission in relation to the supply of newspapers and magazines in the UK.

Responding to this consultation

We welcome comments on the OFT's proposed decision from all sources, but in particular we would welcome views from the parties involved in the supply of newspapers and magazines in the UK. When responding to this consultation, please provide a brief summary of the interests or organisation represented by your response.

The deadline for responses is set at 28 days following the publication of the Secretary of State for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform's decision on the National Newspapers Code of Practice (the Code). However, it would assist the OFT in the consultation process, if parties could in the meantime provide any comments that they were able to prior to the Secretary of State's decision on the Code. Parties will of course be able to supplement their responses once the Secretary of State's final decision on the Code has been published.

All responses and comments should be sent to:

Email: NMD@oft.gsi.gov.uk

Closing date for comments: 28 days following the publication of the Secretary of State's decision on the Code

Further details on the Secretary of State's consultation on the Code can be found on the BERR website.
