Start date: 19 November 2012
Closing date: 28 January 2013
The OFT and the Civil Aviation Authority have published joint guidance on consumer law for the travel industry. The OFT and CAA have produced a long version of the guidance, with more detail on the applicable legislation, and a shorter version for quick and easy reference.
The guidance is a result of joint working by the OFT and the CAA in the light of CAA's understanding of the industry, OFT's recent and ongoing work on airline pricing, the Advertising of Prices markets study, and changes to the law governing the provision of air services.
The Guidance sets out how both OFT and CAA consider key areas of consumer law apply to Travel Agents, tour operators and price comparison websites.
The OFT and CAA consulted on the draft guidance between 19 November 2012 and 28 January 2013, including holding two roundtables for industry. Both versions of the guidance have been updated following the consultation.
