Renew a credit licence

If you have a five-year licence it is important that you renew your licence before it expires. Once a licence has lapsed it can not be renewed. You will need to apply for a new licence. Trading in credit activities without a licence is a criminal offence, for more information see penalties and requirements.

To renew, simply fill in the online renewal form up to one month before the expiry of your licence. Please note we do not accept renewals more than one month prior to the expiry date.

If we receive your renewal application before the expiry date your licence remains valid while your renewal is being processed.

Before you renew your licence, we recommend you:

For more information on renewals see General Notice 68 (pdf 38kb) and General Notice 71 (pdf 223kb).

Indefinite licences

If you were granted a licence after 6 April 2008, or your licence was last renewed after that date, then you may have an indefinite licence. If you have an indefinite licence you do not need to renew it, but a maintenance charge is payable every five years.

For more information about maintenance charges please see General Notice 94 - consumer credit maintenance charges (pdf 51kb) or Maintenance Charges Q and A.
