The OFT is reviewing the work of the Payments Council against the Objectives set for it by the OFT-chaired Payment Systems Task Force in its Final Progress Report published in February 2007.
In that report, the Task Force said that the review would consider the effects and outcomes of the new body, and would score its performance against its three main objectives of strategic vision, openness and accountability, and integrity, and that it would also consider its broader success in facilitating progress and innovation in all payment systems within its remit.

The OFT intends to complete the review by the end of March 2009 when it will publish a report setting out the findings and recommendations.
