The OFT carried out a market study into the Local bus services.
The OFT has referred the Local bus services, excluding London and Northern Ireland, to the Competition Commission (CC) for investigation. The key reasons for this are that low levels of competition in many bus markets both in the supply of commercial services and tendered services may be resulting in poor outcomes for bus users and taxpayers.
