Dr William Moyes was appointed for a three year term from April 2010.
He is currently a lay member of the Legal Services Board (2008- ) an Associate of the Institute for Government. Trustee of the Nuffield Trust and of the Catholic Trust for England and Wales. He was also Executive Chairman of the Independent Regulator of NHS Foundation Trusts ('Monitor') from 2004-2010 and Director-General of the British Retail Consortium (2000 to 2003).
He was seconded to the British Linen Bank (a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Bank of Scotland) in 1994, establishing their PFI advisory and equity investment team, which focused on large deals mainly in health. He was Director of the British Linen Bank (1996) and Head of the Infrastructure Investments Department: Bank of Scotland (1998-2000).
A Civil Servant from 1974 until 1996, he held a variety of posts in the fast stream and senior civil service including: Member of the Economic Secretariat in the Cabinet Office between 1980 and 1983, and Director of Strategy and Performance Management: Management Executive of the NHS in Scotland (1990-1994).
