Learning everyday consumer skills - a teachers' toolkit

Skilled to go uses real life consumer situations, such as choosing a mobile phone, to help learners develop consumer skills, knowledge and confidence alongside literacy and numeracy.

'Excellent range of scenarios that not only enhance communication, literacy and numeracy skills but also raise awareness amongst those learners at greatest risk of exploitation (by helping them to understand their rights). '

Scottish secondary education toolkit ready-to-go packs - January 2012

We have updated the Scottish secondary education toolkit AND launched it in ready-to-go pack format. This means users can now choose which download method best suits their needs. In addition to the existing toolkit, teachers recommended that we provide ready-to-go packs that pull together all parts of an activity along with the delivery guidance and curriculum references. These ready to go packs are available to download for FREE once you log in, or after you register if you are a first-time user. Tell us your views on this and other topics on our teacher comment board.

Skilled to go is committed to providing up-to-date resources. We aim to review the materials annually, working with legal experts to ensure that examples and information are accurate across all countries. Download a summary of which resources have changed in this update (pdf 110kb).

New Skilled to go web hub goes live! - September 2011

Following teacher feedback, we have updated the Skilled to go web pages to make them easier to use.

You told us the previous format was not as intuitive as it could be and that you found yourselves getting lost on our site. You also highlighted that we could make better use of Skilled to go branding, colours and images and entice new users by including teacher quotes and sample activities before having to register.

We've responded to these requests and produced what we think is a sleeker, more user-friendly website. What do you think? Tell us your views on this and other topics on our Teacher discussion board.
