International Cooperation Arrangements

The OFT has signed up to a number of international arrangements with overseas agencies that have responsibility for the enforcement of comparable competition and consumer protection laws.

These arrangements generally provide for co-operation between the agencies on matters of common interest, including:

  • co-ordination of enforcement activities on a case-by-case basis
  • exchange of information on the policies, laws and rules regarding competition and consumer protection.

Recent activity

17 April 2012

A Memorandum of Understanding between the OFT and the Chinese Ministry of Commerce was signed at a ceremony in London. The signatories were Jeremy Browne, Minister of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Jiang Zengwei, Deputy Minister for Commerce, People's Republic of China.

The OFT has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Chinese State Administration for Industry and Commerce (SAIC).

The document addresses experience-sharing and engagement in the fields of competition policy and consumer protection. It was signed by John Fingleton (CEO, OFT) and Zhou Youping (Vice-Minister, SAIC) in Beijing.

The OFT signed a Memorandum of Understanding with China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).

John Fingleton and Xu Xianping (Vice-Chair, NDRC), signed the document at a ceremony at Lancaster House, in the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister and Vice-Premier Li Keqiang of China.
