The parties notified the transaction to the Office of Fair Trading by way of informal submission on 10 June 2008. The OFT's administrative deadline to announce its decision is 5 August 2008. The acquisition completed on 23 April 2008. Therefore the statutory deadline for the Office of Fair Trading to announce its decision is 22 August 2008.

On the basis of the information available to it, the Office of Fair Trading has decided that the completed acquisition of Big Life Music Limited by Universal Music Publishing Limited does not qualify for investigation under the mergers provisions of the Enterprise Act 2002 (the Act), because neither the UK turnover test nor the share of supply test in section 23 of the Act is met. A relevant merger situation has, therefore, not been created.
