Approved codes of practice
This sign means that the firm displaying it is a member of a trade body with a code of practice approved by the Office of Fair Trading.

The aim of the Consumer Codes Approval Scheme is to promote and safeguard consumers' interests by helping consumers identify better businesses and to encourage businesses to raise their standards of customer service.
The sectors from which applications have previously been invited to participate in the Consumer Codes Approval Scheme are:
- Assistive products
- caravans
- car repair and servicing
- computers
- credit
- dental (excluding clinical care and insurance)
- direct marketing
- domestic appliance repair
- estate agents
- funerals
- home furnishing
- introduction services
- motor trade
- pest control
- photography
- removers
- renewable energy
- ticket agents
- travel
- will writers.
We also encourage applications from all other sectors and would be happy to have exploratory meetings and/or carry out informal assessments if this would help.
