OFT seminar to help south west businesses through competition and consumer law jungle

The Office of Fair Trading is inviting small and medium sized businesses in the South West to a free half-day seminar to improve their understanding of important competition and consumer protection laws.
The seminar forms part of a major new OFT regional roadshow programme, the first of which will take place at Bristol Zoo Conference Centre on Wednesday 27 February. The seminar will cover areas such as:
- The Competition Act 1998 which outlaws anti-competitive agreements and abuse of a dominant market position
- The credit licensing regime and other aspects of consumer protection.
The morning seminar will be followed by a free buffet lunch, where delegates will have the opportunity to meet the speakers and key OFT staff, including Penny Boys, Deputy Director General of Fair Trading.
On the day of the roadshow, consumer information and advice will be available from an OFT stand at the Galleries shopping centre in Broadmead, Bristol.
