The OFT has today announced moves within its senior team, with senior directors moving to lead different groups.
From 1 September:
Sonya Branch, currently leading the Goods Group, will take maternity leave from 1 September and return in 2010.
Further moves, including in particular the Senior Director of Services role, will be finalised and communicated in the next few weeks. The OFT will also shortly announce a recruitment exercise for a number of director roles, with a particular focus on competition and consumer lawyers.
John Fingleton, OFT Chief Executive, said:
'The OFT's policy of rotating staff is intended both to enhance the expertise and cross-office experience of individual members of staff, enabling them to develop their leadership ability, while at the same time making the overall leadership team at OFT more resilient and consistent. Importantly it strengthens our succession planning, and helps with our strategy for making the OFT more agile in our delivery and ensuring our work remains relevant to consumers in the current economic climate.
'The fact that we are able to make these moves demonstrates the OFT's strength and depth of senior expertise. All of us are committed to our ongoing focus on vigorous enforcement of the competition rules.'
