The OFT has not stopped any airline from reducing fees charged to holders of particular payment cards such as the Ryanair Cash Passport. Airlines or other businesses should feel free to offer discounts to people using a stipulated payment card - as long as advertised headline prices include any cost of paying by debit card.
We are pleased to have secured agreement from 12 airlines to include surcharges for debit card payments in the headline price. We believe that firms should advertise, and compete on, prices that are achievable for consumers in general, rather than available only to the small proportion of people that use the business's stipulated payment card.
