The OFT has appointed two new directors as part of its continued focus on delivery and enforcement.
Gordon Ashworth has been appointed Director of Consumer and Markets Policy in the OFT's Policy Group, led by Senior Director Jackie Holland. Gordon joined the OFT in 1987 and in that time has worked on a range of policy projects and enforcement cases across OFT's consumer and competition work. Most recently, he led the OFT's response to the BIS review of the consumer landscape institutions and is currently leading OFT's work on the extensive UK and EU legislative reform programme for consumer law.
Andrew Groves is appointed a director in the OFT's Goods and Consumer Group, led by Senior Director Cavendish Elithorn. A qualified lawyer, Andrew joined the OFT in 2003 and has worked in the Goods and Consumer group since its creation. He previously worked in the OFT's Policy and Cartel Divisions and has led a significant number of Competition Act investigations. Prior to joining the OFT Andrew worked in private practice at Baker and McKenzie.
Both directors have already started in their new posts this month.
This is the latest in a number of recent senior appointments designed to support the OFT deliver its strategic objectives as set out in its 2012-2013 annual plan.
