by Philip Collins
Chairman, Office of Fair Trading

Philip Collins describes a visionĀ for what the OFT and Trading Standards can achieve and how it can beĀ delivered.

There are three elements to the vision:

  • sustainable, innovative and effective Trading Standards Services, whose contribution to the delivery of the priorities of local and national government is both recognised and appreciated
  • Trading Standards Services that work together in an efficient blend of local, regional and national collaborative delivery, and with the OFT and other government departments and agencies
  • Trading Standards Services and an OFT who apply the principles of better regulation to promote the well-being of local communities; to deliver first-rate services to consumers and to business; and to improve economic productivity and efficiency, locally and nationally.
