New appointments strengthen OFT's Corporate Services

The OFT has strengthened its Corporate Services Division with the appointment of two senior deputies to Chief Operating Officer (COO) Bart Smith covering human resources and finance. Both posts have been upgraded to give extra support to the OFT's corporate services operations, necessary to help meet its business objectives.

John Shelley, previously HR Director at Crompton Europe Ltd, becomes the OFT's new Director of Human Resources, where his role will cover HR policy and operations.

A former miner, John's career has concentrated on personnel management over the last 25 years. He was HR head at APV plc, Continental Can Europe and GEC plc before joining Crompton Europe.

Darryl Fernandez becomes Finance Director on promotion within the OFT where he has been Head of Finance since 2001. Previously he worked on finance management in the private sector and later he helped set up the finance teams in the Youth Justice Board and the Office of the Immigration Commissioner.
