OFT appoints new Communications Director

The OFT today announced the appointment of a new Communications Director to lead the OFT's strategic communications with business, the media and other key stakeholders.
Barney Wyld is currently a Director at Fishburn Hedges, one of the UK's leading public relations consultancies. Barney has worked on a range of Government and corporate accounts and he led the agency's work on the successful and highly visible Smokefree England campaign. Barney's previous career included being Director of Communications at the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority and a spell at Citigate Westminster where he led the media relations for the Audit Commission.
Announcing the appointment, John Fingleton, OFT Chief Executive said:
'I am enormously pleased to welcome Barney to the OFT's senior leadership team. He brings a great depth and range of experience to our communications department which will enable us to enhance significantly our reputation with the media, business and other stakeholders.'
Barney Wyld said:
'The OFT's mission is to change the behaviour of consumers, business and government to make markets work better, and it cannot achieve that without first rate, proactive, creative communications. I'm really looking forward to the challenge presented.'
At the OFT, Barney Wyld will report directly to Chief Executive, John Fingleton.
